Yes it is, you know that song in Russia?! I think bing crosby did it. The most popular version in ireland is this one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galway_Bay_Song

It's not very unusual. Irish (and Scottish) folk music is popular in Russia, I mean among those who appreciate good music. I love it, it's so... OMG, my English fails me! :)
