Everybody's entitled to their own opinion, of course, and I respect yours, but I think there's more things which can convert married life into hell than just violence and unfaithfulness, things which would make divorce seem the lesser evil. And I did not acquire this view just by reading "how to" manuals or the yellow press, if you know what I mean. Being put down continually by your spouse (as appears to have been the case here) can definitely convert married life into hell - unless you consider the life of a doormat (which is worse than a dog's life) worth while. It may be worth trying to overcome this problem by seeking professional advice, but if one or both are not ready to do so or if this doesn't help either, the only way out and the only way of staying sane for the one "trodden on" is ... DIVORCE.
