Hey Jude is just an amazing song...i think every recording of it is incredible. Anthology version, single version, TTLF version, BITUS version....they all take my breath away.

Yes, all the Hey Jude performances are amazing. I'm always amazed watching the original Beatles clip of how complete the performance is - everything's there, the phrasing, the slow build, all the drama. Remarkable given how recently the song had been written at the time.

Contrasts greatly with, say, Long and Winding Road as performed in the Let It Be film. Tentative, hesitant, uncertain.

I guess the contract reflects the change in state of mind / relationships between 1968 and 1969.

Remember...HJ was a staged video performance.....LAWR was part of the movie.....hard to explain...and...I'm quite sure they were not getting along THAT well in the summer of 68 as compared to Jan 69.

Hey Jude is one of 4 Paul songs that Paul rests his laurels on.. the others being Let It Be, LAWR and Yesterday...

The BITUS version of HJ is nice... the others not as good overall no live version comes close to touching the recorded version because the screaming vocals during the nananana part cannot be reproduced onstage..
