Oh Darling/ Let Me Roll It....same song?

Local rock radio station had a classic Beatles weekend. DJ said that McCartney said in an interview, that Let Me Roll It, was just Oh Darling reworked with different lyrics. After hearing both side by side, you can really notice how much they are alike. Have any of you ever heard this story before?

It´s definately the same sort of a song and the power of the song is equal. But "let me roll" it is nothing without a riff, and "Oh darling" work perfectly without a riff, that´s where I found the valid inequality.

I sincerely have never been noticed about that similarity... having some listenings now I could feel the same mood in both songs taking off the riffs as Bluebird mentioned. Good get Bird!!

I didn't actually notice that they were similar either, but I was curious about what the DJ said.. that Macca said it was the same song in an interview. Has anybody heard this interview before?

Cool, you also think that. It was just a little thought. Both songs are some of my fave by him, in each ways.

Prolific songwriters do tend to do that sometimes- they may not even notice it unless it is pointed out to them- I always thought the beginning of "my Love" was a reworked beginning of "Here There and Everywhere" and I also think the "Out of money, college spent" in "You Never Give Me Your Money" is a bit of a reworking of Paul's part in "A Day in the Life"- There is a bit on Lennon Anthology where John is singing "Whatever Gets You Through the Night" and then starts singing the lyrics to Jealous Guy, when you hear it, you realize they are pretty much the same tune, although you might not have made the connection if it wasn't pointed out.

I think 10CC's "Donna" is far more like "Oh Darling" than "Let Me Roll It" is.
