A RARE photograph of Ringo Starr appearing with former bandmates has emerged after 46 years.
Drummer Ringo, in a bubble-gum pink suit is pictured alongside Rory Storm (Alan Caldwell) and the other members of his group, the Hurricanes, then the most popular in the city, Johnny Guitar (Johnny Byrne), Lou Walters and Tyrone (Ty) Brian.
The photograph was supplied by Jimmy Stevens, a father-of-five from Birkenhead, who was also in a Merseybeat group, the Beathovens.
It was taken in 1962, probably outside a tailor’s shop on London Road known as Eric’s. A few months later, when the Hurricanes were performing at Butlin’s in Skegness, Ringo was invited to join the Beatles.
Meanwhile, a poster created by The Beatles for the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967 is expected to be sold for £375,000 when it is auctioned this week in London.
