Ringo's new "Best of " CD & "Ringo the 4t

Postby DeRick » Wed Jul 11, 2007 5:36 pm

I recently saw the track list for "Photograph: The Very Best of Ringo Starr" Pretty good set. I was also thinking of maybe getting "Ringo the 4th" along with it, since theres no trax from that album. Im just curious to see how bad "the 4th" really is, since it was voted the worst post-Beatle or Beatle of all. Im just curious, thats all.

It's not a great album DeRick however the award for the worst post Beatle album is probably it's follow up BAD BOY. Pretty much a difficult album to play all the way through without skipping the odd track!!

I would think that "Life With the Lions" by John 'n' Yoko is far worse than "Ringo the 4th," or is it too slipshod even to count as a real album?

Well, inthat case, wouldnt "2 Virgins" be dubbed as the worst if not just for the album cover alone, thats enough to be beyond the worst, i think.

These are the must-have Ringo CD's:-
* Ringo : To most Ringo fans what BOTR is to Paul fans

* Goodnight Vienna :[i] To Most Ringo fans what Venus and Mars was to BOTR[/u]

* Time Takes Time : In 1993 was his best release since Goodnight Vienna

* Vertical Man : IN 1997 took over as his best album, with numerous guests, a great colaborative and inventive work.

* Ringo Rama : In 2001, about as good of a follow-up as you could hope for after the astounding Vertical Man.

others:-
* Choose Love : Feels like a bit of a throw-back, too much of going through the motions and not enough of the raw emotion and inventiveness and guest stars of past records.
Still, it's probably better than most of his work between GV and TTT.

You got me curious. Where's that list?

As for Ringo the 4th, no way it can be voted as the worst post-Beatle album. Bad Boy and Old Wave are worse. Ringo the 4th is quite balanced, I like it.

Ringo the IVth is one of Ringo's best albums, it's only beacuse he didn't have any hits and the album sold poorly that it got blasted.

Back On the Streets is my fave from this as is Gave It All Up.

If you listen to Gave It All Up and then go listen to Congratulations from TW Vol1 you will see an uncanny similarity. Seems even Bob Dylan nicked a piece of Gave It All Up.

Ringo the 4th is an abomination.
