I'll agree wth that Kyle....you couldn't have worded it better.

Where's your list? We all have our preferences, after all. I'd like to see what other people see as a "great guitarist". For me, they have to have technical ability, but more importantly, be able to extract interesting sounds from the instrument. If they just stand there and play scales all night then it doesn't interest me much - I prefer music when they play earcatching hooks and strange notes...to really get something different out of the instrument. That's what I like about Steve Vai - he's a technically supreme player, but also can play weird-and-crazy stuff too. Jimmy Page, on the other hand, he can muff a lot of notes when he plays fast, sometimes it's very loose technically, but it fits in the groove of the band and he gets away with it because the rest of it is so great. Bluebird, yeah Slash is great. I love his work on Lenny Kravitz's "Mama Said" album. Check out Fields of Joy and Always on the Run - amazing guitar.
I'd love to find room for Buckethead on that list too, and John Pretucci from Dream Theater - he is totally AMAZING - so great he does Metallica covers like they're nothing.
I needed comfort of love just to get me some piece of mind.. wo-oh
