Also I liked the one about the German baddie with the funny accent who got discovered because his disguise as a cow was "too good" and he couldn't possibly be Nursey and where the baddie read a letter from the Queen saying, among others, "hope you're not too miffed, BYE" - what a laugh!! Great competition for Monty Python for sure.

That's one of my favourite episodes too. I laughed out loud when I read your post, as I can imagine the characters' voices in my head! Bean is great 'n' all, but Blackadder, like Python, is timeless.

Monty Python is about as funny as Shakespeare.

Maybe as the qualtiy of comedy today (i.e. the Office, Alan Partridge etc.) is so much more subtle and better crafted, people my age just don't find people talking in stupid voices and blowing farty sounds particularly funny.

Come on Gregory....there is nothing new in comedy, it's all been done. When I was your age, I use to have to get up in the morning, clean 10 ft of snow off the roof before it collapsed the paper mache bread box that my family live in, eat some beaver poo for breakfast, and then walk 150 miles to the nearest school, all along the way being attacked by hordes of hungry rabid polar bears.

Ok, that's a lie. But this is hilarious.
