Brainwashed

I've just bought this album, and my first impression is quite good. I, too, like what I have understood of the lyrics at first listen - lately, he keeps surprising me with his gift for writing good lyrics. I remember a bit about the nervous system being about to "tilt" and a bit of the title song where he asks God to "help us through this mess". Bluebird seems to be right - a lot of thoughts seem to have gone into this one.

Sometimes I feel a bit uneasy about his singing though - maybe it's just because I know it was his last album. I wonder if at the time of making it, he knew himself? I don't know but it nearly made me cry.

In the booklet, he gives credit to lots of people (it was nice to learn Dhani had been quite involved - I didn't know that before) - among them "our Jeff", "Ringo & Barb" and a certain Paul. Was that his former bandmate or some other guy? I had heard that towards the end, they had to some extent made it up, but did it go that far?

He was diefinately ill during the recording, which makes some of the lyrics that much more meaningful. It's in my top 3 hariAlbums, WAD.

I also think it's a wonderful album, my 2nd favourite right after ATMP. All the songs are so full of soul & thoughts, not forgetting the beautiful melodies!

"Brainwashed" is really good overall. I like ATMP and Cloud9 better, though. I think it's because that, among other things, the album is permeated with some sadness (despite the ironic/caustic lyric bits which I enjoy a lot on several tracks and the "Rocking chair in Hawaii" track)

I wonder: is the Estate of George or Olivia & Dhani ever gonna release a GH Anthology ?? :?:

Still I think it his best album together with ATMP and Cloud 9. There´s a very good energy. He did it very good. Good finish on an excellent careerr..

I have this "mania" to look for acronyms everywhere so I spotted it.
Another Harrison-related acronym that's much more interesting:
If GOD were an acronym, then George/Olivia/Dhani fit !
