Belated George Harrison's Birthday Video Party

Postby linclink » Thu Feb 26, 2009 11:15 am

OK the deal is a I have a friend, Leslie, who has a daughter who has this friend...follow me so far?...well the kid, a teenage Beatles freak, made a facebook group for a "George Harrison's Birthday Party". The kid, Leslie & I were the only members. So I made this up for her to send to him & already sent it out to a whole wave of friend on facebook. I just thought I'd share it here as well. Sooooo...Happy Belated George Harrison's Birthday & HARE KRISHNA & OM NAMAH SHIVAYA!!
I went a bit nuts here, eh? Hey it's 40+ degrees out & I CAN FEEL SPRING!! I AM SPRING!!!! To quite an old Jonathan Richman song, "I was borin in the Spring, in case you couldn't tell...". I thought it would be nice to collect all of these & you can view/hear them all at your leisure...maybe over the next year, huh?
Part I is just some great tracks, studio versions (#2 & #3 have great little interview bits too- make sure you check out #2 at least!!)...Part II is oddities, live stuff, etc. & I did list the order for you.
Anywho...here are a few links to some great Harrison tracks for you to check out at your leisure.
1-Life Itself 2- This Is Love 3- All Things Must Pass 4- Dream Away 5- It's All Too Much (Beatles) 6- Any Road 7- Here Comes The Sun (Beatles) 8- Ding Dong 9) This Song 10) Crackerbox Palace 11) The Inner Light (Beatles) 12) Within You, Without You- from the "Love" album it's the George Martin remix mashup (combined with "Tomorrow Never Knows"- it's amazing, video is great & check it out if you haven't heard it)
13) It Is He (Jai Sri Krishna) 14) Gopala Krishna (unreleased original Kirtan Chant number) 15) Within You, Without You (just the instrumental backing from the original track from Beatles "Anthology" 2 album), & finally the gorgeous & other worldly 16)"Marwa Blues"- also an instrumental from his last album "Brainwashed". The video is a pink lava lamp with mandala psychedelic video effects.

INTERMISSION

and Part II the full 8+ minutes version of (#1) "It's All Too Much", (#2) the end of "Yellow Submarine" where they use it in the film ( like the longer version it contains a "lost verse" ("nice to have the time to take this opportunity...") not in the regular release & it's a different take or mix, and...(#3)the original demo for "All Things Must Pass" from early 1969. It was supposed to be on the "Let It Be" album, & there are Beatles versions of it, but it never got finished. If it had then that album would have had "Let It Be", "Across The Universe" & "All Things Must Pass" on it. Sheesh!! Then we have some "Concert For Bangladesh" live videos- (#4)"My Sweet Lord", (#5)"Awaiting On You All", (#6)"Here Comes The Sun", (#7)"While My Guitar Gently Weeps" (Harrison out weeps Clapton here), & the unreleased Dylan duet on (#8)"If Not For You" Finally we finish with a flurry of numbers from "The Concert For George"- We start with (#9) "The Inner Light" by Jeff Lynne & Anoushka Shankar. If you've never seen the last number, (#10) "I'll See You In My Dreams"- an old standard by Joe Brown) & closing speech by son Dhani & then where millions of rose petals drop for the ceiling, make do watch this, it's really worth it. The very last things here are an instrumental version of (#11) "I'll See You In My Dreams" by as fave a guitarist as I have Django Reindhart. It's ancient & glorious & makes a nice reprise & I couldn't resist it as we end with non George performed tracks. Finally up (#12) is the magical, mystical wonder of closer to this little virtual celebration, the amazing Anoushaka Shankar, daughter of Ravi Shankar & half sister of Norah Jones, performing an instrumental piece called "Your Eyes", written by Ravi Shankar, from that same show. It is just incredible!!!
