Especially this line, make me think that  It´s also obvious that the song is written in 1973 two years after his hate-song.. HDYSAN

Good question, what about this: ( Don´t know if it´s nice, but it is maybe to John) :? :)

Two of us sending postcards
Writing letters
On my wall
You and me burning matches
Lifting latches
On our way back home
We're on our way home
We're on our way home
We're going home

You and I have memories
Longer than the road that stretches out ahead

or
I Called Your House, Every Night Since Then But I Ain't Never, No No Never Heard You Calling Me Come On And Call Me Back Again . . . . . Call Me Back Again. I've Heard Your Name Every Night Since Then But I Ain't Never, No No Never . . . .

Well You Know I'll Always Love You
But It Would Have Been A Lie
If I Said That I Could Please You
Every Moment That I Try

Wouldn't Want To See You Crying
So L Hope You Don't Mind
The Things I Say
On The Way

 Well We've Been Traveling For A Long Time
And We Finally Finished Here
Though I Said Some Things To Hurt You
Well It Was Only Out Of Fear

Wouldn't Want To See You Crying
So L Hope You Don't Mind
The Things I Say
On The Way

Well You Know I'll Always Love You
Everything Will Be Alright
If I Know You Don't Mind
The Things I Say
On The Way

Well You Know I'll Always Love You
Everything Will Be Ok
If I Know You Don't Mind
The Things I Say
On The Way
This song could be a kind of a "Sorry song" to John... :?

Yes, but I think it´s strange the lines  "You and I have memories, longer than the road that streth us" It could really also be a line to John I think..

Look at CMBA and OTW, could it be some songs to Lennon... Cast your opinions..

Most of the song is about Linda...as he often does, he has to make words/lines fit, so part of the song is fictional, of course. They are just words that sound pleasant.

Much like when I read an interview with George Michael where he explains his hit song "Careless Whisper" is a complete work of fiction, that absolutely zero of the events in the song happened in his life, it was just "knocking off a song". The trick of the songwriter lies in making those events seem believable - and George Michael in that instance succeeded in creating one of the classic songs of the 80s - but makes no bones of the fact they're only words and notes with no personal bearing or interest whatsoever.

Moral of the story is...with ANY song, Beatles or otherwise...take it with a grain of salt...where they came from...whom they are intended for....words are just words...they paint pictures...throw in a semblance of fact and truth...throw in some fancy pretty words, throw in ambiguity (even to yourself as a songwriter), throw in some utter lies...heck..just throw in any old word pattern just to make the line rhyme..the final concoction makes for a great song!

Well put KS!!! Too much is made out of lyrics etc....especially Beatle-related songs. Very few are autobiographical or about each other. The few that are have been well documented.
