:puker: if this was the only thing, Lennon was a selfish, critice musician.

Maybe it's just me but I've always thought that the song "I know (I know) " referred somehow to Paul. I can't explain it really, it's just a feeling. Please let me know your opinion.

I know (I know)

The years have passed so quickly
one thing I've understood
I'm only learning
to tell the trees from wood

I know what's coming down
and I know where it's coming from
And I know and I'm sorry
(Yes I am)
But I never could speak my mind

And I know just how you feel
and I know now what I have done
And I know and I'm guilty
(Yes I am)
But I never could read your mind

I know what I was missing
but now my eyes can see
I put myself in your place
as you did for me

Today I love you more than yesterday
right now I love you more, right now

I know what's coming down
I can feel where it's coming from
And I know it's getting better
(all the time)
as we share in each others minds

Today I love you more than yesterday
right now I love you more, right now[/i]

First of all, welcome to this site, Mr (or Ms) Trainrobber. You yourself said it, it's a Macca site and you have to understand (and respect) some of the views expressed here with this idea in mind. But you will also find that most of us appreciate John and his Beatles and post-Beatles works (I think a lot more than you guys appreciate Macca's Beatles and post-Beatles works) and at least some of us (I'm certainly among them) think that the whole "antagonism" between them has been exaggerated and blown out of proportion - they themselves were apparently about to "make it up" shortly before John was assassinated. It is POINTLESS to keep going on about who was greater, better, more important, etc. etc. They were both great and will always be remembered as perhaps the greatest songwriters in the history of popular music. PERIOD.
It's the start of a journey
To a much better place
And this wasn't bad
So a much better place
Would have to be special...

Yeah I personally consider John to be pretty much the equal of Paul. Oddly enough, on that thread where you pick your favourite song off each Beatle album, it turned out I mostly picked John songs with a couple of Paul ones and a couple of George ones (Something, I Me Mine).

But I also don't believe any of the Beatles were "more important" than another Beatle. John was John, Paul was Paul. Both great. :P
I needed comfort of love just to get me some piece of mind.. wo-oh

Hi mindgames - I think you have a serious point here !
The lyrics seem to refer to Paul, I agree. I find it great that John mentioned "Yesterday"connected to a very positive message. We all know how negative the vibes were when John used the same reference on "How Do You Sleep" !

Thank you, I'm glad if some of you share my thoughts. At least, we will never know, but "it's getting better all the time" is not accidentally.
