the 'mainstream' media is just a big conglomerate-owned miasma of information tossed into the air, and, if you're lucky enough to be nearby, you just might see things like this, and many other variations, throughout the years.
problem is, once any neat idea gets hold, one of the other big conglomerates (say big oil or the car manufacturers) has a golf game with the media conglomerate...and the whole thing gets lost, rather than played up.
unless, of course, there is $$ (esp. big $$) to be made RIGHT NOW (kinda like all this blah-blah-blah about drilling in protected areas: all that'll do is pad the pockets of big oil, and not lower, or lessen our dependence one iota)...all the stories like this end up getting lost in mists of time
then there is the very famous story about this guy from kansas, who, along with his son and some friends, created a way for big old gas guzzlers to get 50-100 mpg...way back in the '80's: he took the idea to detroit...and...well...
look at what neil young is doing...and that is part of a challenge that many others are deeply involved in: kinda like the multi-$$ challenge for independent space travel richard branson is involved in: you'll hear bits and pieces here and there...and most of this type of thing has made it to the 'mainstream' well more than once in a while...
then, there is that guy who created, supposedly, a perpetual motion device: he and the gizmo where on Johnny Carsons' show several times...but...where is that..??
you wake up...sip hot tea...mindless music, radio free. see blue skies and think of sea...how are you doin'
