Colors in band's names

Postby Berkeleyan » Wed Aug 22, 2007 5:58 am

Several very successful bands from the 60's and 70's incorporated colors to their names - some of them come to mind:

Deep Purple, Tangerine Dream, King Crimson, Moody Blues (w/ a double meaning to it, but still a color), Velvet Underground, and so on.

I guess the "flower power"of the 60's as well as drugs/pot had a lot to do with that trend. Currently I can think of one successful band w/ color to their name: Velvet Revolver.

I wonder if any other colors were used the same way.

Cream is a color...not why they named the band Cream though  Wasn't it because Cream always rises to the top ?
