underrated 70's band... guess who?

Postby Rundevilrun » Fri Oct 11, 2002 9:37 am

Yes, the guess who... I can't think of someone who had more passion in his voice when he was singing...Burton Cummings-very, very talented...Saw him last year, i believe... didn't have the same rawness to his voice when he played and the songs were about a whole step lower b/c he couldn't hit the notes, but that man is as close to a musical genius as you can get... Played the guitar, keyboard, flute...Flute?!? no one plays the flute anymore, but he did, and he was very good. Randy Bachman toured with him and did some songs from his "other" band, BTO. If anyone would benefit from a veggie diet, it would be these guys... Man, they're bigger than Abe!

"The Hollies" had a successful career but they never were compared with the great groups as The Beatles, Stones, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, etc. I think they were a great vocal harmonies group, especially when Graham Nash was with them... Allan Clarke is a great singer too!! I like a lot "The Air That I Breath", "Bus Stop" and "I'm Down"(nothing related of The Beatles!).

Peace.

Can you think of a band that was so bitter, but put it to so upbeat music?

Yes...many different lineup changes throughout the years, with Burton Cummings being the constant. The American Woman album was a smoker from the summer of 1971....great summer...

Who's Next....Led Zep IV...LA Woman, and of course....RAM!!!!
