Funny nick, isn't it?? Elton John was called like that over here in his early career, for his brighter and outrageous clothes and his weird glasses... but his songs pleased many people here.

Peace.

It kinda makes sense. I've just never heard it used before.

I'll run that nickname by my new in-laws, Nito..that's funny, but very fitting.

Sooner or later we all will be there....

Well, I've seen him described as "The Queen Mum Of Pop", if that's at all useful?

Now I´m confused if that nick was for EJ or was for Gary Glitter, don´t you remmember Gary??? It was many years ago, and I think was some criticals here that nicknamed EJ like that. When I saw his shows on TV in circa 73~75, thought that sometimes he was ridiculous in those clothes and glasses, though the songs were pretty good...

Peace.

Well, Gary Glitter was recently convicted for paedophilia over here, as it happens . . .

Yes OSM...I saw that a while back. Those types should have to spend the rest of their days tied up in a shower in the roughest prison in the world. Sickos...

Moving back to the original topic of Elton John . . .

I have been buying his studio albums en masse. I have got 13 of them, as they were about £5-6 in the sales here, I might as well get them when they're cheap (as I planned to get them anyway). The ones I have are:

Empty Sky - not listened to yet
Elton John - all right
Tumbleweed Connection - ok
Madman Across The Water - good
Honky Chateau - good
Don't Shoot Me I'm Only The Piano Player - great
Caribou - nlty
Captain Fantastic And The Brown Dirt Cowboy - pretty good
Rock Of The Westies - nlty
A Single Man - nlty
Too Low For Zero - good
The One - very good
Songs From The West Coast - very good

I've only listened to any of them once as yet. I'll let you know . . .
